Today was the first day I fed her only the expensive stuff, and no more of the Pro Plan. I'd started out doing that, but she turned her nose up at the expensive stuff and wouldn't eat it. So I had to gradually mix small amounts of the expensive with large amounts of the Pro Plan, and inversely change that ratio until she was only eating the expensive stuff again. That's the point she reached this morning.

I hate having to shut her in the hall bathroom to feed her. But the rabbit/duck/venison stuff is pricey enough I'd rather not have Simba or Hobbes eating it if they don't "have" to, the way Caitlin does. But it appears to have also had the added benefit of teaching her that if she doesn't eat what's put in front of her, she doesn't eat--when Simba and Hobbes are done with their food, I clean out the crumbs from their dishes before I let Caitlin back out. I hate the idea that she thinks I'm "punishing" her for something by shutting her in the bathroom. At least with a human child you can talk to them and try to explain (assuming you're that kind of parent) why things have to be done a certain way. But I'm going to have to keep feeding her "behind closed doors" for the foreseeable future.
