I had this recipe stored on the hard drive of my old computer.  Now that I have a new one, and most of my friends are on LJ, I figured I'd make it easy for everyone and just post it here for whoever wants it:

Hot German Potato Salad

About six to eight medium-to-large red potatoes
One stick butter
One package (12 slices) bacon, cut into one-inch pieces
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
3 heaping tablespoons sugar

Slice cleaned, unpeeled potatoes in a food processor.  Melt butter over medium heat in a heavy skillet.  Slowly cook potatoes in melted butter, covered, turning about every five minutes or so until potatoes are cooked through.

Meanwhile, in a separate skillet, fry bacon pieces over medium heat until crisp.  Remove bacon pieces with a slotted spoon, leaving grease in pan.  Set bacon aside to drain on paper towels.

Add water, vinegar and sugar to bacon grease, stirring frequently until liquid begins to thicken.  When potatoes are cooked through, add bacon to potatoes and pour the grease mixture over them.  Stir to combine, and serve.
